Colston Bassett has ended a successful centenary year – with a Supergold and gold award at the 2013 World Cheese Awards. The dairy’s famous Stilton was one of just 58 cheeses that received a Supergold stamp from industry experts at this year’s event – a fantastic achievement as over 2500 international cheeses entered. Colston Bassett Shropshire Blue was also recognised for its high quality and great taste with a gold award.

The judging took place at the BBC Good Food Show, NEC, Birmingham on Wednesday 27th November. Over 200 experts from the cheese industry; producers, retailers, writers, chefs and buyers spent the day tasting entries in order to name the award-winners, Supergold cheeses and the final World Champion.
